Happy Father’s day to dad’s around the world!

To honor all the dads and men of WellSpring this Father’s Day a donation was made to the KORE foundation.  KORE  was formed in 2003 by a fellow Tennessean who while visiting a third world country was introduced to ‘the plague of chronic poverty’.  The sense of responsibility and often times the burden that men and fathers feel to provide for their families is something that men all over the world have in common.  But for a large portion of our world’s population the desire and ability to work and earn a living is not met with the opportunity to do so.

KORE, through local churches in each region, provides micro loans to individuals and/or small groups of villagers in destitute regions of our world so that they can purchase, raise and sell chickens.  Then they can provide for their own families and greatly reduce their dependence on outside assistance.  KORE states their purpose as “providing a sustainable solution to chronic poverty.  To enable and teach people the dignity of self reliance and sustainability without outside support.  To go Beyond Relief.”

KORE started their work in Haiti, but are in the process of expanding their ministry to several other countries in need…Brazil, India, Kenya and Romania are next on the horizon.  You can visit www.korefoundation.org for more information.
